We Can Handle the Truth

Lt. Dan Choi and I co-authored an article published in The Daily Beast and Global Grind that gender and orientation are not relevant to the military mission. A soldier is a soldier. Despite a persistent “macho” mythos, it is becoming clear that neither gender nor sexual orientation is directly pertinent to a soldier’s ability to do their job. The reality is that women and gays are everywhere on the battlefield. Both gender and sexual orientation are indistinguishable to the enemy. Read the article in the Daily Beast

Sorry I could not make Dan's speech here in Salt Lake last night, but I did get a chance to listen to him on the Moth podcast. Wow, quite an impressive young man that I wish was still serving and protecting our 'collective' freedoms. I don't get the controversy and find it embarrassing that President Obama has yet to repeal this outdated, ineffective and detrimental policy. Let good Men and Women who want to serve – serve.
